Stuart Fails to Save the Universe debuts on July 23
Stuart Bloom is leading the next chapter inTheBig Bang Theory's extended universe.
HBO Max dropped the first teaser trailer forStuart Fails to Save the Universe, a spinoff of the hit sitcom, featuringKevin Sussmanreprising his role as the beloved comic book store owner.
During the Warner Bros. Discovery Upfront presentation on Wednesday, May 13, the show's stars unveiled the new look at the series, which debuts on HBO Max July 23.
Stuartwill mark the fourth series in theBig Banguniverse, followingYoung SheldonandGeorgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
The series follows Bloom as he's "tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon," per a logline.
"Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Denise, geologist friend Bert, and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke," the description continues. "Along the way, they meet alternate-universe versions of characters we’ve come to know and love fromThe Big Bang Theory. As the title implies, things don’t go well."
Lauren Lapkus(Denise),Brian Posehn(Burt) andJohn Ross Bowie(Barry) will also star in the sitcom, which comes from Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn and Bill Prady are credited as its creators, writers and executive producers.

The streamer previously unveiled first-look images of the cast hanging out at Stuart's store, the Comic Center of Pasadena. The cast revealed during CCXP Mexico City that the series will also feature original music from Danny Elfman.
Lorre, 73, previously described the series to PEOPLE as a "science-fiction action-adventure comedy."
“We just finished principal photography and I'm pretty excited about it. It's a big swing," he said at Project Angel Food’s Grand Opening of the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation Kitchen & Campus. "I think it will be revered or reviled. I'm not sure which.”
“It was fun because Lauren Lapkus and Brian Posehn and John Ross Bowie fill out the cast and they were all supporting players onTheBig Bang Theory,” he added. “Now they're the leads, and it's just kind of cool.”
The series, announced in July 2025, comes afterThe Big Bang Theory's 12-season run from 2007 to 2019. Stuart and Barry boarded the show in season 2, while Denise and Bert joined later on.
“I’m certain that joy will come through the screen,” Pardy previously said of the show. “Putting characters we loved fromThe Big Bang Theoryinto a complex science-fiction story with the kind of mythology that those characters love while maintaining the comedic elements is incredibly satisfying.”
The season arrives on HBO Max on July 23 at 9 p.m. ET, with later episodes debuting on subsequent Thursdays.
